Leeds United are now on the verge of sealing a deal to allow one member of their squad to depart this January as they look to trim Daniel Farke’s ranks.

Though currently top of the Championship, Leeds are still looking to bolster their ranks this winter, according to reports.

The Elland Road side are reportedly eyeing a potential new goalkeeper following several mistakes from Illan Meslier, while second-choice shot-stopper Karl Darlow played against Harrogate Town and helped his side win 1-0 against the lower league local outfit.

That comes as a free report from Hull Live claims that Leeds have “now sanctioned” Joe Gelhardt’s departure on loan for the remainder of the season, with the talented forward set to join Hull City for the second half of the Championship campaign.

It is even claimed that the move “could be confirmed in the next 48 hours” after he was left out of the squad against Harrogate Town, with Leeds and the 49ers accepting a loan offer from the Tigers.

He is expected to be eligible for Hull City’s next game, when they face Millwall on Saturday, and it is added that watching Hull City fight back to draw 3-3 with Leeds a week ago “rubber-stamped his desire to join the Tigers”.

Gelhardt’s exit is no real surprise, with the forward having seen just nine minutes of Championship action over the first half of the campaign and starting just once in the Carabao Cup.

Though Farke dubbed him “a really top-class human being and he’s a quality player”, he opened the door to his departure earlier in the month.

“Joffy (Gelhardt) is a candidate (to leave) as he hasn’t played that much”, the Leeds boss explained ahead of his side’s clash with Harrogate Town.

However, Farke could be grateful that the move is only a loan, with Gelhardt held in high regard by the German taskmaster.

“I have an open relationship with him (Gelhardt) and have made it clear I rate him. It’s tough on him as he is a top character with his qualities; it is just a competition thing. I have preferred to stick with Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph. It is tough for him as he works his socks off in every training session. He knows I trust him. His behaviour is unbelievable.

Gelhardt still has two and a half years left to run on his £15,000 a week deal at Elland Road, meaning that all parties will have a chance to re-assess his situation over the summer without the pressure of his contract running down, while the forward will get some much needed first-team action, albeit with one of Leeds’ Championship rivals.

ويخوض ليفربول مباراته الأخيرة في موسم الدوري الإنجليزي، 2024/25 ضد كريستال بالاس يوم الأحد 25 مايو الجاري، على أن يُقام موكب التتويج بالكأس في اليوم التالي.

وأشارت إلى أن النادي الملكي يرغب الآن في التفاوض مع ليفربول للسماح لـ أرنولد بالانضمام إلى “سانتياجو برنابيو” قبل انتهاء عقده مع النادي الإنجليزي، مقابل مبلغ معقول.

هذا الأمر يعني السماح لـ أرنولد بالسفر مع ريال مدريد إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية للمشاركة في كأس العالم للأندية.

The Spaniard reassured Arsenal supporters that his side are still “actively” on the hunt for a new number, who can come in to alleviate the pressure on Kai Havertz’s shoulders after Gabriel Jesus’ season-ending ACL injury.

Arteta added that he often consults the Arsenal squad on potential new arrivals, so they know exactly what to expect, as he looks not to upset the applecart.

“We lost two very important players in Saka and Jesus, we lack goals and options in the front, it’s clear,” said Arteta on signing a new striker.

“If we can get the right player, that’s what we’re actively looking at. They’ve [the players] all been there, we have very short numbers for many weeks, they recognise the situation. Sometimes I consult the players on signings, especially if they know them. It’s away from the computer and the data, they can sense it, they know about them.”

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres, Galatasaray hitman Victor Osimhen, Botafogo forward Igor Jesus and Wolves striker Matheus Cunha are all rumoured Arsenal transfer targets for January, according to various reports over the last 10 days.

Arsenal are believed to be favourites to sign Cunha as things stand, while Gunners transfer chiefs have also been internally debating the possibility of signing Sesko from RB Leipzig in the coming days (Dhamesh Sheth).

However, Leipzig managing director Marcel Schafer has attempted to pour cold water on the possibility of Sesko joining Arsenal.

Amidst their chase for a new centre-forward, Arsenal are also believed to be targeting Rosenborg’s wonderkid midfielder Sverre Nypan.

As per GiveMeSport, Nypan has received a “promising offer” to join Arsenal, and the Norwegian is increasingly tempted by the possibility of making a move to the Emirates Stadium.

This is being helped along by Odegaard, who’s held direct discussions with his compatriot in an attempt to convince the 18-year-old. Nypan, who bagged eight goals and 10 assists in all competitions throughout the 2024 campaign at Rosenborg, would also cost just £10 million.

The teenage sensation is a Chelsea transfer target as well, according to TEAMtalk, so Arsenal may have some competition over landing Nypan’s services.

“Sverre Nypan is extremely exciting,” said Norwegian football expert Jesper Mathisen to TV2 last year. “I get a bit of the same feeling as when I saw Martin Ødegaard break through as a boy.”

United fans will likely be buoyed by this update, considering Cannon is a young footballer with so much quality, being hailed by Liam Rosenior back in 2023: “I thought Tom Cannon was outstanding, one of the best we’ve played against by far.”

The Englishman has done well for Stoke this season, scoring nine goals in 22 Championship appearances, showing that he knows how to score at an impressive rate in the division.
